WAWASAN TENTANG STRATEGI DAN APLIKASI PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA BERBASIS KOMPETENSI

Planning and curriculum development is a job that requires in-depth and comprehensive study to fulfill the eligibility requirements. Curriculum development need to pay attention: cutting-edge issues in education, problems in the field, variations in school, educational personnel, interests and abilities of students, as well as the demands of social development, science and technology. Mathematics education based competency emphasizes the skills possessed by graduates; so that the curriculum was developed based on the elaboration of a basic skills competency standards. Standard of competence is an ability that can be performed or displayed in the learning of mathematics, whereas the basic skills is a minimum ability in mathematics to be possessed by students who form affective skills, cognitive, and psychomotor.
Characteristics of learners of mathematics consists of: the characteristics of school mathematics, the characteristics of students studying mathematics, and the hierarchy of affective and psychomotor aspects.

A. Characteristics of School Mathematics
1. Mathematics as search activity patterns and relationships
2. Mathematics as a creativity that requires imagination, intuition and invention
3. Mathematics as problem solving activities (problem solving)
4. Mathematics as a tool to communicate

B. Characteristics of Student Learning Mathematics
1. Students will learn math if they have the motivation
2. Students learn mathematics in its own way
3. Students learn mathematics either independently or in collaboration with his friend
4. Students need the context and the different situations in the study of mathematics

Mathematics Curriculum (SMU) Based Competence in implementation need to pay attention: the standard of competence, the syllabus format, measures the basic skills-based preparation of syllabus subjects of mathematics, the determination and description of learning materials, and the last is development of unit learning. Format syllabus is a form of presentation of the syllabus content consists of competency standards, basic skills, learning materials, description of learning materials, student learning experience of time allocation, and reference sources used. Step-by-step preparation of syllabus-based Basic skills mathematics courses is a series of events beginning with the philosophical study of the development of mathematics education, including preparation of the scientific structure. Unit learning (SP) is a translation in a more operational than the syllabus into fragments of learning activities that are operational can be done by the teacher.
